Tattoo Ink Pigments in the EU

Sources and method

Every fact on a pigment page comes from the regulation text, opened on the date shown on that page.

Where the facts come from

Names, CI, EC and CAS numbers and limits are copied from Appendix 13 and from paragraph 4 of the entry. Pigments are grouped by the colour word in their Colour Index generic name, for example Pigment Red or Acid Green; orange and yellow share a group, and so do blue, green and violet, so that each group has enough pages.

What is left out

A pigment is on this site only if the text names it by name or number. A substance that falls under the entry only through its hazard classification or through the cosmetics annexes has no page, because that would need our own reading of those lists. ECHA pages on the restriction could not be opened by our tools, so none is used.

This site summarizes what the text says. It is not legal advice and it is not the authority: the law in force decides.
